Located on the Millennium Line on Vancouver’s SkyTrain rapid transit network, Lake City station is sited on a sloping lawn near a main highway and continuous stand of mixed mature trees. Conceived in this context with an aesthetic of speed, the station evokes a wind-swept cloud anchored at the ground, then cantilevered dramatically above as a natural gateway signifying the character of the high tech park that it services and faces. Durable materials such as painted galvalume finishes and stainless steel, combine with glass, aluminum and concrete to express an appropriate aesthetic.
