At the base of Red Mountain, the 1600 sq ft Mine Shaft House is a feature component of the new ski-in/ski-out housing development. Literally on the edge of a dramatic sloped property, referenced in the design is the area’s rich mining history juxtaposed with the unique energy of skiing. An expressive recycled steel frame comprises the core, while the structure is clad in pre-manufactured wooden structural insulated panels (SIPs) with high insulation values. The Mine Shaft house utilized a time- and cost-efficient building information modeling (BIM) and digital manufacturing process. The final product, a modern haven, expresses a unique sense of history and place.
The Mine Shaft House will be on exhibit at the AIBC as a part of the Annual Conference. Check our Studio Activity page for more info
