Shadi Jianfar
Associate | Architect AIBC

Shadi is an Associate at SHIFT Architecture, where she leads both design and project delivery while helping guide the day-to-day operations of the studio. Since joining the firm in 2016, she has been instrumental in its growth and diversification, bringing together design insight, business strategy, and a collaborative spirit. A registered architect with the AIBC and a LEED AP, she holds a Master of Architecture from Azad University in Tehran. Before joining SHIFT, she worked with studios including Henriquez Partners and Tom Bunting, contributing to projects such as TELUS GARDEN Residential47-storey, 424 residential units residential tower with LEED Gold standard and 250Powell Street—a complex heritage redevelopment of a 10’000 sq.m of existing correction facility to affordable housing.

Her design philosophy is modern with a deep connection to the user, context and the program, resulting in architecture that is bold yet restrained, and deeply rooted in place. At SHIFT, her work on Tailor, a multi-residential project in Burnaby, reflects her ability to balance thoughtful design with technical excellence. She landed her first architecture job in Canada just four days after arriving—thanks to a job-finding class networking assignment that led her to UBC and a serendipitous connection that changed everything.
